Lessons

My studio is open to all prospective violin or composition students, regardless of age, race, skill level, disability or different ability, or gender identity. Special accommodations and considerations can be made as needed. Music is sacred and should be accessible to everyone. Your lesson with me is a safe place to be yourself and express yourself through music.

For parents with child beginners

First: Please do not buy your child's instrument without consulting me first! We will have to measure them to ensure they get the correct size instrument.

Thank you for supporting your child's music! Your child is now on their way to becoming an expressive and gifted musician.

Parents are encouraged to be present in the lesson, and nearby during practice, as often as possible. I do understand that you are very busy, but just like how a child can't be expected to have a job, they can't be expected to practice effectively on their own.. Supervision of practice will usually only involve reminding your child of topics covered in the lesson. Occasionally you may be asked to participate more directly, but this happens rarely.

Finally, practicing more often is better than practicing for longer. Your child should practice most days. If you must shorten each practice session to make sure they don't feel burnt out, do so.

For adult beginners

It is never too late! I was an adult beginner myself. Though we face certain specific challenges, becoming highly proficient is still very possible. Through regular practice and lessons, you will make music that you will be proud to share with friends and loved ones.

Contact me before you purchase your instrument. There are many ways to get burned or scammed when searching for your first violin. After it arrives, our trial lesson will mostly focus on setting up the instrument and fitting it to your body type.
